Lavender Luncheon Recognizes LGBTQ+ Graduates During Gaypril
Publish Date: April 29, 2026

On April 29, 海角直播 hosted its fourth annual Lavender Luncheon in the Roadrunner Caf茅 as part of its Gaypril programming. This year鈥檚 event featured a Wicked-inspired theme and brought together students, faculty, and staff to recognize and celebrate LGBTQ+ graduates.
The program featured keynote speaker Ernest Guillen, an Inland Empire native, longtime higher education leader, and proud LGBTQ+ alumnus. In his remarks, Guillen reflected on the importance of authenticity, courage, and community鈥攅specially in times when visibility and support matter most. Sharing personal stories and lessons learned, he encouraged students to 鈥渂e the person you need now,鈥 reminding graduates that their identities are not only valid, but powerful.
鈥淵our bravery is needed,鈥 he shared. 鈥淓very time someone chooses authenticity, they make space for someone else to do the same.鈥
Graduating students were presented with sashes to mark their achievements and upcoming transitions. Attendees also enjoyed a catered lunch and a Wicked sing-along, adding a lighthearted close to the event.
The Lavender Luncheon remains an important part of 海角直播鈥檚 efforts to create an inclusive campus environment and to recognize the accomplishments of its diverse student community.
