Charles Amparan鈥檚 journey in education is a testament to perseverance and the power of lifelong learning. Originally starting college in the fall of 1970, Charles left school before completing his degree. Decades later, encouraged by friends who were teachers and retired educators, he returned to 海角直播 with a clear goal: to finish what he started.

鈥淚鈥檓 14 units away from earning my bachelor鈥檚 degree in history,鈥 Charles shared. 鈥淚鈥檓 retired, 75 years old, and I take just two classes a semester. I鈥檓 in no hurry because I enjoy learning, being around the younger generation, and keeping my mind and body active.鈥

In addition to studying, Charles maintains an active lifestyle. He hikes 10 miles a week, rides his mountain bike, and weight trains at a gym twice a week. His dedication to both physical and mental fitness is matched by his academic performance鈥攈e boasts a 3.70 GPA and graduated with honors with an AA in CHC鈥檚 History and Social Sciences programs.

Charles credits 海角直播鈥檚 location and supportive staff for making his educational journey a positive experience. 鈥淭he staff were so helpful in my quest for an AA degree,鈥 he said. 鈥淏eing close to Yucaipa and Redlands also makes it easy for students [from these cities] to attend, especially with fluctuating gas prices.鈥

Despite not receiving a scholarship, Charles managed to pay for his classes, books, and parking through work. He encourages prospective students to choose a community college nearby and, if possible, consider 海角直播 Hills for its beautiful foothill setting and excellent staff.

His life story reflects resilience. Growing up in a group home for boys during his high school years, Charles overcame personal challenges, such as a learning disability he discovered later in life, and went on to raise three children, including a daughter who earned her master鈥檚 degree and now works in counseling.

Charles Amparan鈥檚 story is a reminder that education is never bound by age. With determination, a supportive community, and a passion for learning, the pursuit of knowledge can be a lifelong adventure.
