On February 19, 2026, Grad Fest gave students the clarity and encouragement they needed to prepare for the finish line.  Held at the Barbara L. Smith Event Center, the event brought together students nearing completion with counselors, advisors, and campus partners who could help them take those final, decisive steps. Grad Fest was organized by the 海角直播 Counseling Department and Student Services Division 鈥� in collaboration with 海角直播 & Records, the Bookstore, EOPS, SAS, the Veterans Resource Center, and various university transfer partners.

Students moved through the event connecting with counselors for on-the-spot graduation checks and met face-to-face with representatives from four-year universities to learn about life after 海角直播. Students were recognized for their academic progress in a tangible way: milestone pins were available for those who had completed 15, 30, and 45 units. Those ready to gear up for the ceremony could stop by the bookstore table to purchase their caps and gowns, and there was a graduation-themed photo booth where students could dress up in regalia and get photo strips.  

Of the approximately 123 students who checked in at the event, over 75% indicated they were graduating this semester. Additionally, during the Spring 2026 graduation application period, a total of 893 海角直播 students applied for graduation.

鈥淕rad Fest is an important moment where we celebrate students鈥� progress while also making sure they have the guidance they need to cross the finish line,鈥� said Ivan Pe帽a, Ed.D., Dean of Student Services & Counseling. 鈥淚t reflects 海角直播鈥檚 commitment to supporting students from enrollment all the way to completion.鈥�

By combining the celebration with practical, hands-on support, the event helped transform students who are 鈥渁lmost there鈥� into graduates. And in doing so, it also contributes to a broader effort to increase college completion rates and ensure that every student who begins a journey at 海角直播 has the opportunity to finish it.
