Annual Transfer Fair opens doors to bright future for Roadrunners

Every student matters when they come to 海角直播.
That鈥檚 the message Mariana Macamay and her Transfer Center team conveyed on September 10, during the college鈥檚 annual Transfer Fair.
More than a dozen college, university, and trade school representatives met with Roadrunners to discuss future student programming, extra curriculars, and transfer requirements.
鈥淲e are here to transform lives鈥攖hat鈥檚 what education does,鈥� said Transfer Center coordinator Macamay. 鈥淲e 鈥� want to provide opportunities for students to achieve their dreams. Whatever their goal, we are here to help them. That鈥檚 the whole purpose of why [the Center] exists and why we host events like this.鈥�
The Wednesday morning event kicked off at 9:30 a.m. in the CHC Quad. By 10 a.m., chatter echoed through the space as Roadrunners visited with site reps from local institutions such as University of Redlands, Cal State San Bernardino, California Baptist University, and others, another as far away as Chicago.
鈥淲e are channeling this new opportunity knowing that California produces some of the highest transfer student rates in the nation, and so for us it is important to show a brand and make sure students understand there are opportunities outside of [the state],鈥� said Melissa Farardo, a regional rep of transfer admissions with Chicago鈥檚 DePaul University. 鈥淚 was a first generation college student who is really passionate about this work because if I knew then what I knew today, my college experience would have looked completely different.鈥�
Since its founding, 海角直播 has remained committed to creating pathways to education for all who call the Inland Empire 鈥渉ome.鈥� Recently, 海角直播 was recognized as the top community college in its state region for University of California (UC) transfer admission rates for the third year in a row and saw its Black and African American student population achieve a 100% UC admission rate, followed by Latinx students who were admitted at a rate of 81.03%.
