Selected from over 1,220 southern California-based artists, the installation 鈥淥cclusions鈥 by Ren茅e Azenaro was chosen for the All Media 2019 Exhibition running September 7鈥揙ctober 26, 2019 at Irvine Fine Arts Center.

About the exhibit: 鈥淥cclusions,鈥 an installation of multiple sculptures, each unique sculpture made of crocheted steel wire forms, took over a year to make; forms are grouped and hang from the ceiling, some barely touching the floor. Conceptually, shadows that appear from natural and artificial light play an integral part in the meaning of the work, as it multiplies and changes the physical image into the ephemeral. Viewers may walk through the installation, and children may play within it, the work is light in weight and gently moves with the natural air currents of the space. 鈥淥cclusions鈥 addresses the many ways we understand our collective and individual realities, through our unique and ever-changing perspective, at times we have clarity, at times we cannot distinguish nor understand what is before us, or we cannot decipher what is real from the shadows on the wall; still we are drawn to move closer to understanding.
